CARIBICA
CARIBICA was formed in 2002. Originally known as Grupo Amigo, founding members Angel Camacho, Victor Camacho, and Giovanni "Jose" Perez performed a combination of Latin contemporaries and classics with a mix of some easy listening and pop. After inviting a guest guitarist to jam with them for a few numbers, Johnny Rupar soon became the fourth member. Their play list soon grew to include oldies and eventually rock classics. After 3 years of playing together, the band became tighter musically and began including original songs to their performances. In late 2004 they changed the name of the group to CARIBICA not only to better highlight the palatable blend of Caribbean and American music sharing the stage together, but also as a reflection of the band members themselves. Carlos Alvarez became the fifth member of the group and added percussion that allowed a larger variety of American oldies, rock, and Latin rhythms to really come together. CARIBICA has several promotional CD's recorded and the band has amassed quite a following over the years as their popularity continues to grow! With Angel thumping a mean bass, Victor on congas, keyboards and vocals, Giovanni "Jose" on rhythm guitar and vocals, Johnny on lead guitar and keyboards and Carlos on the drums, CARIBICA will make you sing, dance and enjoy your favorite tunes in a style that will not be soon forgotten!
